About My Travel Journals

In current travel writing, I find some positive trends. First, I feel the current travel writing are becoming more useful and aim to help travelers to save money. A great deal of information proves that travel is no longer a luxury activity. Travel becomes popular among ordinary people. There are many ways to save money and make the travel affordable. For example, in the article “8 Easy Ways to Save Money as you Travel in Europe,” the author, Jane, only spends around €7000 including all flights, accommodation, food, and tourist activities to travel around Europe. There are many tips provided by the author for saving money in order to help travellers accomplish their dreams. Just like Jane, I often stay at hostel when I travel. From my observation, many people can get free accommodation from helping out at the busy traveling time. However, a large number of people are still afraid of living hostel, since they think it is dangerous and dirty. From my own experience, I never meet dangerous situation and most of the hostels are clean. I enjoy the time living in hostels and make a lot of friends there. I also have a great opportunity to work in a hostel. This experience makes me believe hostel is a good choice for travelers to meet friends and save money.

Secondly, ecotourism is becoming more and more popular. It is a good trend for people to change their travel style, appreciate nature, and acts sustainably. In Jane's article, she also addresses that experiencing the outdoor activities can save money. Nature is free and always amazes us. I want to write my travel journals with many details about nature. I feel what I am good at is to write details, which people often ignore.

Thirdly, the authors of travel journal provide photos or videos to record the trip, rather than simply words. Many of the photos have good quality and they will capture people’s attention directly. I love pictures, therefore I may post some good ones in order to make my blog look beautiful.

There are still a lot of trends and great ideas coming in recent travel writing. In this week's reading, I enjoy Watson's story “Where the Roads Diverged.” It is not only a piece of beautiful nature writing, but a story that touches me deeply. I feel travelers should first love the place they write, find it unique. That will makes their travel writings stand out from others and meaningful to readers.

Other thoughts:

There are some very famous places that people love to write. They are all amazing places. However, I am getting tired of seeing them over and over again. I wish to see more about the places that I have never heard of.

In the past, I don’t think of my hometown. However, when I am studying abroad, I started to miss it badly. No doubt, there are lots of tourist attractions in Beijing. Tourism is not a new topic but a continue growing industry in China. Beijing, as a capital city, can be seen as a must-go destination when traveling China. Beijing has also suffered serious environmental problems  In my blog, I want to introduce some new places in Beijing, not only the famous Great Wall or Forbidden City, but also the places that only residents know.
